GDPR How we use and protect your data

On the 25th May 2018, new Legislation comes into place giving people more control over their data. This is called the General Data Protection Regulations. Every business or entity must ensure that the data held by them about people is relevant and secure to enable their core functions, and that the use of data for other purposes is managed in a way to give you, the user, more control.

Bensham Manor School is a public body, where data on pupils, parents and staff is kept in the public interest to provide essential services relevant to our role as a school. We do not sell data to any third parties, and take steps to ensure personal data does not fall into the wrong hands. We keep relevant data for a period of up to 5 years and then delete it from our systems, unless the data is essential to a systems function. Sometimes, data can be transferred to carefully selected parties in order to provide a useful service to our staff, parents and pupils or indeed, to the general public, however we endeavour to make sure that only relevant information is passed on and no data is used without our permission.

We have appointed a company to act as our External Data Protection Officer, in case we are not able to answer any questions you have. The details are below.

Please be assured that Bensham Manor School, and everyone within, will strive to maintain the highest level of protection for any personal data we hold and will resolve to remain as compliant to the new regulations as possible.

Thank you.
