Autumn Term – Objects and Viewpoints

This unit covers; Line, tone, colour, shape, form, space, painting.

IDEAS

  • Draw an every day object e.g. shoe
  • Trace drawn object using basic lines only and copy 4 times. Paint tracings 1 using black, white and tones, 2 using a colour, white and tones, 3 using a colour, black and tones, 4 using a colour, black, white and tones.
  • Use tracing of object and straighten curved lines, extend lines to edge of paper. Using oil pastels block colour using cool colours for background and warm colours for object
  • Take photograph of stool. Photocopy and cut out negative space, arrange shapes and glue.
  • Trace negative shapes, paint using one colour, repeat process and fill with patterns, lines etc
  • Collage using coloured paper taken from magazines
  • Shading using pencil / coloured pencils to give object shape
  • Use view finder and trace an area from a given still life. Use this to repeat a number of times in a square, then experiment with line, colour, collage. Assemble to form a ‘patchwork.

Spring Term – Animating Art

This Unit Covers; Line, colour, shape, form, space,painting, digital media.

IDEAS

  • Look at kinetic art and recreate using squared paper to give the sense of movement when looked at
  • Decorate and colour a spinning snake mobile
  • Design and make a mobile
  • Look at Pop Art
  • Take photograph of self, trace out main lines, photocopy 4 times, block colour and recreate Andy Warhol

Summer Term – Shared View

IDEAS

  • Look at aborigine paintings and discuss symbols
  • Look at symbols /signs used around school and in community, design own symbol
  • Create picture of Australian animal using dots only
  • Cut out shape of Australian animal and make pattern using dots / lines
  • Make a boomerang and decorate
  • Make your own journey to school from home using signs and symbols. For this project you will be looking at native aboriginal artists
